Stockholm four-piece Melby has continuously made great indie rock music that has continuously built upon what came before. And it doesn’t make sense to us why they aren’t bigger trademark names by now.

This is very much true on their recently released single “Magic.” It’s a charmer of a indie pop effort that feels like Tennis with a Scandinavian. Tight instrumentation, a indie pop groove, with a bit of a low key dark and emotional atmosphere to mix things up from their previous work.

The band

I feel like Swedish culture has a very low tolerance for expressing imagination. Stockholm in particular is a place that demands extreme realism, concrete explanations. This can be really frustrating, and Magic is kind of a free association on that theme, wrapped in a polite, straightforward pop tune.
