The always reliable Scottish-based We Were Promised Jetpacks, now a trio, recently returned with their brand new single “If It Happens,” off a 7″ that the track will be featured on and released by Big Scary Monsters on June 29th.
The track does feature a bit of a shift in some ways for the band with a more polished approach, but the hallmark and backbone of the track still has all those trademark sonic elements and emotive lyrics and atmosphere.
Lead singer Adam Thompson had this to say about the track, which they created remotely during last years lockdown.
“I feel that ‘If It Happens’ expresses a lot about what I had been trying to get across to myself. It was all part of my new mindset of trying to be more positive about what I have and not always thinking about what I don’t. It’s about embracing the idea of happiness, doing what you can to encourage it and generally be a lot more ‘c’est la vie’ about everything. If it happens, it happens; if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. What can you do?”
