Canadian singer-songwriter Mo Kenney released her new album Strange Powers recently via turtlemusik. The album sees her covering countless of beloved songs throughout her career, both live and in the studio that, “allows a small glimpse into her musical genesis, the artist she is now, and where she might be headed next.”
One of the standouts of the collection is her cover of The Magnetic Fields’ “Strange Powers.” Her take is a stripped down and personal one that gives it a fingerpicking acoustic folk performance that gives it a whole new interpretation. It’s devastatingly personal and touching.
