We’re a few weeks away from the release of Nisa’s debut EP Guilt Trip. The New York-based rising talent is set to release it on March 26 and has already shared a handful of songs from the release and gives us one more with the newly released animated video for “Turn Me Down.”
The track wastes no time kicking off with a crisp guitar riff and a bit of an ethereal vocal delivery and production style that has a 90s spirit to it. She has a way of delivering a hook in way that captures an emotional feeling that is authentic and utterly convincing. Her sound is not indie rock, folk, or pop, but something very much of her own.
You can find the animated music video that was directed by James McManus below, along with a quote from Nisa about the song/video:
We wanted to give it a cinematic feel, and the music video reflects that. It ends up being this grand journey, so super excited to have that come out. The metaphor is crystal clear: once you give up the guilt about the things that make you you, you’re free to view them from a perspective of neutrality instead of self-loathing.
