Butch Wifey is the project of Chloe Ponder, an indie artist from Boise, Idaho who released her first single last summer.
She’s recently returned with her new single “Wallet,” a song that captures a feeling of yearning and heartbreak, the sort of 90s indie rock anthem that reminds of the work of fellow rising stars like Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy.
Ponder describes the track as following:
Wallet is a song about distance, physically and emotionally, growing between two people. It aims to pin point that feeling of trying to make something work in a one sided relationship and how that can result in a feeling of helplessness
One thing is for sure, Ponder has a knack for writing a tune that has a melancholic emotion feeling, while also providing a sneaky amount of hooks along the way.
