Tide Rider is an artist out of Kelowna, British Columbia, whose debut offering “Minus Touch” we shared way back in April.
The bedroom-pop artist has since returned with a new track entitled “Santa Barbara Heartbreak.”
Inspired by the great new wave and sad jangle pop indie offerings of the 80s, as well as modern acts like Wild Nothing, Tide Rider taps into something emotionally raw and melancholic on the track, like the sort of breakup that is unable to be forgotten from your mind, no matter how much time has passed.
As he describes it:
Santa Barbara Heartbreak is a bedroom pop breakup song. This song was recorded on an old Akai reel to reel, it’s an upbeat track with down lyrics. I tried to really saturate the instruments with the tape. All instruments were played live from my garage.
