Maidstone, UK-based band The Shop Window, a band fronted by partners in musical crime; Carl Mann and Simon ‘Syd’ Oxlee. The pair are veterans of the game who had crossed musical paths prior to the formation of the new bad.
The band’s latest single is “Sad Eyes” a track that captures the essence of classic indie rock and jangle pop of the 80s/90s and gives it an earnest spin completely of their own that feels timeless.
the track was meant to be shared just in time for Christmas, a song about family that Mann described with the following:
“Sad Eyes” was written after a visit to see my Grandmother. She is a massive part of my life and is now 104 years old. She has always been there to save and guide me from before my own memories even began. The afternoon visit had such an impact that day that as soon as I started to drive home I knew I wanted to write down the last two hours I had just spent with her. Naturally I reached for a guitar as soon as I got home and this song happened without even thinking, it just poured out! I can’t even recall having worked on it so to speak!”
