Oakland-based Americana/country group Idiot Grins have returned with their new album Thoughts & Prayers, a song-for-song covers album of the Louvin Brothers’ revered 1959 classic Satan Is Real.
The band describe the decision to record a covers album as a true labor of love that they did just for fun and resulted in tracks succh as “I’m Ready to Go Home,” is a standout offering that showcases the band’s approach to the songs off of Satan Is Real.
It casts a warm country and Americana feel that is of course quite inspired by the originals that came before, while also offering they’re own approach and sound to make it their own.
