Daphne’s Demise is the indie/ambient pop/folk solo project of Canadian musician Zoë Layla. She grew up in a small lakeside town in Southern Ontario, Canada, and began teaching herself how to make music in high school.
On October 30th she released her album What a Gift Just To Exist. “Meet Your Eyes” is one of the standouts from the album, sitting somewhere between an intimate folk song and a dreamy bedroom-pop exploration.
There’s a strong melancholic sadness felt here, that showcases not only her ability as a songwriter but also as a musician able to summon a world of her own.
