Nitcholas is the dreamy lo-fi pop project from songwriter Nick Taylor and producer Calvin Lauber.
“Dreamboat” is a track that they released earlier this year but its one that fits perfectly for the arrival of autumn. There’s a feeling of romantic nostalgia here that has a bit of a Beach House and Cass McCombs mixture that feels retro yet still perfectly modern.
You can find it streaming below, along with a direct quote from the artist about its making:
Dreamboat is A dreamy lo-fi track drawing inspiration from a simpler time. It’s all about that desire of wanting something more, whether that be in love or just in life in general. When writing it I always thought back to school dances as a kid and wanting to ask someone to dance with me but always being too nervous of rejection or it blowing up in my face in an embarrassing way. This song is about having the courage to ask them to dance, to ask the world to dance, and to get what you want out of life. I think that’s where the optimistic groovy vibe of the song comes from, and why it sonically ends on such an upbeat note.
