Xelli Island is the independent dream-pop project of Los Angeles / Detroit-based vocalist, songwriter Lianna Vanicelli, who has just released her new single “Bad For You” taken from her upcoming EP.
The track captures a playful summery electro-pop tone that has a dream-like quality to it with a bit of the ethereal and vocal familiarity of Grimes. It’s got a hopeful spirit to it, built open a colorful set of soundscapes that play perfectly alongside her vocals.
You can stream the track below, where you can also find a quote from her about its inspiration:
‘Bad For You’ is the love song I’ve been wanting to write for years. It captures that sweet spot of falling for someone who you know could eventually break your heart. It’s about putting away your pride and surrendering to the mystery of love and connection. I think it’s really rare to feel completely enamored with someone, but when you do it’s truly incomparable.
