We are just a few days ahead of the release of Sylvan Esso’s new album Free Love, which is out Friday via Loma Vista Recordings.
They already have given us a preview of a handful of tracks from the album and today they shared “Free,” one last preview of the album ahead of the album’s release.
It’s an intimate ballad with themes of love that can stand as a central theme or pillar of the record, as the band’s Amelia Meath describes below:
Free was written all in one go. One of those magical moments of songwriting that happens once every hundred songs. Nick knew it was the centerpiece of the record the minute I showed it to him. ‘We should call the record Free Love.’ It’s the center of the record – a song about being obscured by someone’s loving impression. A mirror on a mirror.
Enjoy the music video for “Free” below, which was directed by D.L. Anderson.
