THALA is a singer-songwriting from Berlin, who started playing music on the streets only just a year ago, discovering an open mic scene and soon started recording compositions of her own.
She is preparing the release of her first EP and has shared her latest single “Serendade.” It’s a melancholic and dreamy rock ballad of sorts, with a soaring psych-induced state that reminds of efforts from the likes of rockers of the past like Mazzy Star.
THALA describes the song as follows:
Serenade was written during my stay in the canaries after I’ve witnessed multiple people pretending to be happy living the ‘forever beach-life’ as an endless cycle even though clearly they weren’t. Most of them were stuck. Back then I was working as a waitress at a bar and everything was very superficial. Life was about being seen rather than being appreciated for who you might be. I guess that’s one of the ‘darker sides’ to a perfect get away that never ends
