Stella Sommer has gained a reputation of sorts in her hometown of German as “the queen of German indie” and it becomes perfectly clear just why that is after a listen to her new track “The Eyes of the Singer,” taken from her upcoming album Northern Dancer, due out on October 30th.
The track feels like the sort of warm folk-rock that you could stumble across in Greenwich Village in the 60s. It has this distant otherworldly quality to it that you could totally see Wes Anderson finding the absolute perfect placement for. Sommer’s vocals are a perfect companion to the loose strumming and fitting strings that accompany it.
