Dan Lyons, former drummer of Fat White Family, has shared “Mr. Meaner” the latest single from his album SubSuburbia. The track continues the album’s themes of “social observations around the darker side of suburban life in modern Britain.”
The track follows his previously shared singles “Gargoyle” and “Big Moon” with a modern twist on some 60’s leaning throwback psych rock.
On a lyrical tip, Dan says of the release:
“Mr. Meaner lives in SubSuburbia, he has a drinking problem and anger issues. He takes his repressed emotions, turns them into violence and hurts the ones he loves. The song switches perspective all the time, from the abuser to the abused and then to the hapless voyeur, trying to offer some kind of support, but failing. On the surface, the song is about an abusive, fictional marriage, but I think everybody has had an experience with this kind of relationship”.
