Muzz is the new indie supergroup of Interpol’s Paul Banks, The Walkmen’s Matt Barrick and Bonny Light Horseman’s Josh Kaufman. Today the trio announced their self-titled debut album which Matador Records will release on June 5th.
The band started from Banks and Kaufman’s friendship, which started many years ago during their childhood. And they both developed a relationship with Barrick just as a part of being in the music scene here in New York. The band has actually been around since 2015, when they first floated ideas during sessions.
Today the band has released the lovely new single “Red Western Sky” which follow-ups up the previously released tracks “Bad Feeling” and “Broken Tambourine.”
The track features those always familiar vocals of Paul Banks, which are re-framed with the warm context of horns and more mellow competitive instrumentation. It’s a pretty offering, one that feels natural and reassuring.
