Blue Canopy is the project of Portland-based multi-instrumentalist, Alex Schiff. He’s preparing for the release of his debut EP Mild Anxiety, which will be released on April 17th.

Last month we shared it’s first single “656,” and today we return with second single “Keys to the Garden.”

The track has a hazy psych influence with some colorful dreamy layers that remind us of the good old days of early Tame Impala. Not only that, but the track covers life as a fan of the ever-struggling New York Knicks. As Schiff explains below:

“At that point in my life, I knew that my wife and I wanted to start a family, but we had no idea where we were going to live. That was causing a lot of anxiety and feelings of being unsettled. Everything was up in the air. I started writing lyrics about that, but was struggling. The Knicks were kind of similar in the sense that they too were directionless with an uncertain future. I think emotionally it was easier to write about the Knicks, and as soon as I made that the decision the lyrics came together quickly.”
