Grace Joyner channels some chill vibes on her brand new single “Fake Girlfriend.” The Charleston, South Carolina musician is preparing for the release of her sophomore album Settle In on April 24th, which the single will appear on.

It is a funky and groovy mix of indie rock with some late night vibes bubbling under the surface, with a strong vocal performance bringing it all home.

Find a bit from Joyner about the creation of “Fake Girlfriend” below, along with the stream of the track.

I wrote Fake Girlfriend as a reflection of a certain type of relationship I think a lot of our generation deals with at some point or the other. A lot of us are looking for that perfect match, so it can cause a reluctance to commit to one person, because then in turn you are letting go of some of the other options that might be lingering out there in the universe. But when you care for someone you also don’t want to let them go because what if they are the one! – so you don’t commit, but you don’t let go. It can cause these relationships to never fully begin, but because of that they never really end either.
