The track is an airy and contemplative listen, one that automatically hits an emotional undercurrent that only grows every step of the way. With an incredible and honest vocal performance paired with sparse guitar work and soaring synths, the effect is simply chilling.
Speaking on the song, Westerman says, “Blue Comanche” is about the inevitability of environmental loss as a consequence of modernization. I’m not a Luddite, I don’t think we should go back to the Stone Age or anything, but there’s still something profoundly sad about what’s being lost.
If Westerman isn’t yet on your radar, there’s no doubt in my mind that one listen to “Blue Comanche” will change that.
