Sonic Blume are a band out of Asbury Park, New Jersey who are preparing for the release of their upcoming new album.
“Raincoat” is the third song to be released from it so far and it’s won our hearts over in epic fashion. The track has an emotional and nostalgic feeling that reminds us of some of the earliest work of acts like The Paints of Being Pure At Heart, with a strong emotional core built around lush and jangly guitar work and a sound that feels straight out of the 80s.
As the band describes:
This is a song about falling in love with your best friend, and addressing all the challenges that come with confessing your love to them. The song is upbeat, romantic, nostalgic, and even melancholic.
The emotional aspect of the song is one that feels lived in while listening, with the heart of the songwriter bursting out of the speakers in earnest fashion.
