It’s been three years since we got new music from Wolf Parade, who are currently operating as the trio of Dan Boeckner, Spencer Krug, and Arlen Thompson, with Dante DeCaro recently leaving the band to go back to school.
Today the band returned with “Against the Day” a synth-driven jam that has many of those ever-familiar Wolf Parade ingredients, mainly the dual vocals of Boeckner and Krug that work to perfection. Thompson’s steady and precise drum work blends perfectly with the lush synths that give their sound a bit of a new dimension, while also keeping their sound perfectly intact in all the right ways.
The release of the song came with it’s music video that was directed by Scorpion Dagger and features a 16-bit contribution from Doctor Octoroc. You can watch it below and find some of the band’s European tour dates which means that a new album next year featuring “Against The Day” may be just around the corner.
