Today we have the honor of premiering The Black Drumset’s brand new album, Charged, which will be released tomorrow, Friday, March 8th. The band is the brainchild of Austin-based musician Brian Willey, which he wrote and recorded during 2016 and 2018 as a “reflection of the atmosphere of modern America.”It’s the first new album release in nearly 10 years, due to Willey’s time spent as the co-founder and director of the Austin art space Tiny Park.
But he makes a grand return with the new album that comes packed with psychedelic infused tracks laced with mind-bending art rock and soundscapes that take the mind to a far-away land that is uniquely very much its own thing. These are the sort of mind-altering numbers you can see soundtracking a dystopian science fiction film.
The album’s release comes just in time for the SXSW Music Festival, which of course takes place in Austin next week and will include a performance on March 10th at the Austin Town Hall vs Side One Track One showcase at Hotel Vegas.
You can enjoy your exclusive early stream of the new album below and if you like what you hear, you can pre-order the album right now from Bandcamp.
