Radiohead are back in North America for another leg of their tour in support of 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool (released via XL Recordings). They returned to New York City for a sold out 4-night run at Madison Square Garden, where they also played when they were in town two years ago.
The band kicked things off with “Daydreaming” and “Ful Stop” in a similar quiet fashion that they did on that tour two year ago but they clearly were up to change things around by shuffling in the always epic “Myxomatosis” third in the set. Five songs from the 25-song setlist were from the new album, leaving plenty of room for material from all over their catalog (with a 5 songs coming from Kid A) to make way and delight the audience.
This was a typically strong performance from the band and it was only night one. Radiohead shows are always known to get better as a run continues, which was crazy to think about because for most bands this would’ve been a career defining performance, but then again, Radiohead are not most bands.
