Among the albums released in 2017, The Navigator by Hurray for the Riff Raff (released via ATO Records) and Out of the Storm by Waxahatchee (released via Merge Records) were two of my personal favorites. Much to my delight, the two acts embarked on a co-headlining tour this past April which found them playing the New York area twice. I caught the first of the two shows, which took place at Warsaw in Greenpoint on April 13th. Accompanying Waxahatchee and Hurray for the Riff Raff as the opening act was Spacebomb Records recording artist Bedouine.

Bedouine’s set featured songs from her excellent self-titled debut album, which also happened to be released last year (we caught her at Joe’s Pub in November), as well as some new material for which she sought feedback and potential song titles from the audience. Waxahatchee’s set struck a nice balance between songs from Out in the Storm as well as selections from her two previous releases. Before Hurray for the Riff Raff took the stage, the audience was treated to a brief performance by the Resistance Revival Chorus. And finally, to close out the night, Hurray for the Riff Raff’s set mostly focused on material from The Navigator.

Continue below to see both Waxahatchee’s and Hurray for the Riff Raff’s setlists along with a photo gallery of Hurray for the Riff Raff, Waxahatchee, Bedouine, and the Resistance Revival Chorus.
