On October 12 Future Islands wrapped their sold out three-night run at Brooklyn Steel in support of their album The Far Field, which was released this Spring via 4AD. It also was the last show of their North American tour.
I last caught them much earlier in the year when they did a last minute show at Bowery Ballroom where they gave us a taste of the new songs that would make up The Far Field for the first time. Since then, they have been touring the new material non-stop across the country and various festivals, and at this point are operating like a well-oiled machine.
They concluded their U.S. tour with an electric 24-song setlist that featured all the best of the new album, as well as expected old favorites such as “A Dream Of You and Me,” “Tin Man” and “Viereo’s Eye.” Getting to hear the latter live is always a reconfirmation that it is indeed their best song. They also included a new song that they only finished writing a few weeks prior, so it seems that even more new music is on the horizon, as this is a band that has no signs of slowing down.
