Slow Dancer is the project of Australian singer Simon Okely. He’s recently signed to ATO Records, and is set to release In A Mood, his first record for them (he released his debut album Surrender in 2014) on June 9.
On March 23, Okely made his NYC debut, playing an intimate set at Rockwood Music Hall along with his two-piece band, giving us a preview of what’s to come on the new record, and a run-through tracks from Surrender.
You got the feeling in the room that this is an artist that won’t stay relatively unknown for long. Based on the reaction that songs like lead single “Don’t Believe” me got from the Rockwood crowd, it’s only a matter of time until Slow Dancer are gracing larger spaces.
