After catching Yeasayer at Irving Plaza, I headed over to Baby’s All Right, for a late night set from the always wild Aussie’s, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Not only was it my second show of the night, but it was the 2nd show that they would play that night, following a sold out performance at the larger Bowery Ballroom.
I’ve seen King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard quite a few times now, and yet, somehow they keep finding new ways to wow me. Their performance at Baby’s was their craziest yet, with the crowd moshing and moving with such fury, you would have never guessed that it was almost pushing 2 a.m. The band were in good spirits, sharing some of their tequila and beers with fans. By the end of the set, they ended up bringing down a part of Baby’s soundproofing ceiling and ripping some pieces off. It was that kind of party.
