On April 6, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros returned to New York for a rare performance at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn. The show served as a preview of their new album Person A, which they played in full, returning with an encore performance of old favorite “Man On Fire.” It was great to see the band in the church setting, with frontman Alex Ebert eager as ever to venture through the aisle and bring the sermon directly to the people.
The opening set featured open-mic style performances from regular people who were selected ahead of the show to come out and play. This was a refreshing alternative to the usual opening performances we are treated two and was a nice gesture by the band.
Find the setlist below, along with photos of both Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and some of the open-mic musicians.
