One of the best parts about HBO’s new show Vinyl is the wacky display of the 70’s rock and roll industry that it gives us. Not to mention a pretty killer soundtrack.
We can add a cover that The Strokes and Voidz frontman Julian Casablancas did of The Velvet Underground’s “Run Run Run.” His vocals take on an almost Dylan-like form here, diving into the past and chugging along with that signature New York cool. It’s a great and very faithful cover. There are definitely worse things to wake up to a Friday morning.
I’m excited to see how this song will be used in the show (maybe this Sunday?, but for now, enjoy a stream of his cover posted below (along with the original for reference):
