Say what you will about Dan Auerbach and The Black Keys, but no one can deny their work ethic. The guys seem to be constantly churning out new records, and then touring relentlessly nearly two years following them. So it’s amazing to be that Auerbach has started a new band with The Arcs, and that it’s another winning effort. Their debut album Yours, Dreamily isn’t too much a departure from his work with The Black Keys, but there are enough explorations towards different sounds and ideas to make it worthwhile.
On September 9 the group played a special show NPR First Listen show at the bookstore Housing Works for their first official show as a band. As you can imagine, it was a special show. The band played most of the album within the confined space of the bookstore, mere inches away from the band. It was a once and a lifetime oppurtuity, a cool experience to see an arena rockstar play at a freaking bookstore. You got to love New York.
