The spring 2015 edition of Boston Calling got off to an extremely strong start on Friday, with sets from Sharon Van Etten, Tame Impala, and Beck. It was a short day, but one packed with a trio of incredible performers.
Van Etten was as good of anyone to kick off the weekend of music in Boston’s City Hall Plaza. It was my second time catching Sharon this year, with her utterly fantastic performance at Warsaw coming earlier in the year. She managed all the same in the larger environment of a festival stage, kicking things off confidently with a performance of “Serpents” leading things off and setting the tone for a great set full of all her best cuts. It was likely the first that many in the crowd heard of Van Etten, but she surely left with many news fans at her side.
Van Etten will make her return to New York this weekend for a performance at Governors Ball. Stay tuned for more on that performance as well. Find more photos from her set posted below.
