On March 3, Modest Mouse will release their long overdue new record Strangers To Ourselves (via Epic Records), their first album in nearly eight years.
They already released first single “Lampshades On Fire”, and today they followed that up with the music video for second single “Coyotes.” While “Lampshades On Fire” was a more upbeat cut, “Coyotes” takes a mellow reflective route, but builds towards an grand, uplifting finish, that wonderfully hits all of your emotions at once.
The “Coyotes” music video features a coyote riding a light rail, inspired by the true story of a coyote that actually did find its way onto a Portland light rail train in 2002 (which also inspired Sleater-Kinney’s “Light Rail Coyote.”).
The first 2,500 vinyl pre-orders of the album on vinyl will receive a complementary copy of the limited edition 7″ of the “Lampshades On Fire”/”Coyotes.” Some copies will also be on sale for pre-orders of the album on vinyl at select retailers, but the 7″ single will not be for individual sale.
