What a better way to start out 2015 than getting to hear a brand new song from Kanye West featuring Paul McCartney. It’s called “Only One,” and it features one of the Fab Four on keyboard.
“Only One” is a touching, and personal offering from West, from the perspective of his late mother Donda, who passed away in 2007. Kanye delivers his heartbreaking lyrics over 808s & Heartbreak-style auto-tune as McCartney plays some finely tuned keys.
According to a press release, “Only One” is the first publicly available recording from the duo’s unlikely, but nevertheless exciting collaboration. Apparently Kanye and Paul recorded together last year in a Los Angeles bungalow. It began with Paul improvising on the keyboard, with West then imprivising his vocals.
It will be interesting to see if they end up releasing a full LP together. Can you imagine what a Kanye West/Paul McCartney tour could be like? I’ll keep dreaming.
