This past Friday STS9 brought their live show back to Best Buy Theater. However, this time, the line-up was different. Newest member and bassist Alana Rocklin had some shoes to fill, and she absolutely did, bringing her own style and energy.
One of the most wonderful things about seeing STS9 live is that no matter how many times you see them it is never the same show. They have a cult following and whether this would be your first time or if you’re a member of “the tribe” and seen them over 30 times, there is always this incredible sense of anticipation before they hit the stage. The camaraderie radiating from everyone is second to none and the bonding that happens between strangers at an STS9 show is like nothing i’ve ever experience before.
STS9 are known to play lengthy sets because they go on these long intricate jams that are easy to get lost in. I was expecting a long show however, at Best Buy Theater they played for an hour and a half, had a twenty minute intermission, and they played for another hour and a half. The chance to grab a drink or two and recharge without missing a beat was a nice surprise.
All members seemed to be having a great time up their together. Alana looked comfortable and confident, it was great to see her embraced with open arms by the band and the fans.
STS9 will continue to mesmerize and keep everyone dancing. It is a show that no matter how many times you see it, you’ll be coming back for more.
