On Tuesday night Christopher Owens rocked Highline Ballroom is support of his new album A New Testament, which will be released next week.
Owens shared plenty of tracks from the new album, while ignoring last year’s Lysandre completely. In it’s place were fan favorite’s from Girls’s two albums such as “Laura,” “Hellhole Ratrace” and “Vomit.” It was a pleasant surprise for me, as it was the other way around the last time I saw Owens.
While I am enjoying his new material more than Lysandre, it was great to hear Owens play so much Girls material, which I didn’t expect at all. It also helped that the backup singers from the final Girls tour were included in his band. For one night, the spirit of Girls felt alive and well again.
Liam Hayes played a enjoyable opening set. Find photos of his and Owens performance posted below.
