20th Century Fox has announced that the Deadpool film finally has a solid release date. Though no additional details were revealed, we know that Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as our favorite anti-hero in February 2016. The writers for Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have penned the screenplay, and no director has been officially announced.
This news comes a few months after the full sequence of test footage was leaked, featuring Reynolds performing voice and motion-capture. The response on the internet was overwhelming, lauding the direction and re-energizing the campaign to get the film made. I would speculate that the reaction likely helped move the project forward.
With the way Fox has recently handled the X-Men series, things are looking up. Let’s just hope it’s rated ‘R’.
