Sean Carey, best known as the drummer (and backup vocalist) in Bon Iver, also releases his own blend of gentle, beautiful music as S. Carey. He’s currently touring in support of his latest album, Range Of Light, which he released this April (via Jagjaguwar).
His tour brought him to Boston Calling yesterday for a mid-day set during the peak of the muggy summerlike day. It wasn’t exactly the ideal setting to see soft, emotive music, but S. Carey and his band made it work with pure talent. Like puzzle pieces, his music slowly reveals itself. Once it all comes together, you’re rewarding with the kind of rich imagery and feeling that just sticks with you.
After enjoying his music in a festival setting, I can only imagine how special it would be to see him play at an intimate club show.
