Not much else is known about new mysterious band Eyelid Kid, other than the fact that they are a indeed a band featuring more than one members, and that they are located in Southern California. They have shared nothing about themselves other than this following description that came in a press release:
A pair of lovers trapped in the comfort of intimacy try to escape the undertow of all possibilities and realities. The ultimate support, the ultimate hindrance. Love and pain, reward and sacrifice, it’s all in the eye of the beholder. An unfiltered look at the dichotomy that is the human condition; the peace and tranquility, as well as the turmoil and tension, Eyelid Kid covers the spectrum with the honest realization that the only meaning in life is that of which you assign.
“Time Travel” was the first song shared, dropped mysteriously during the spring. It caught the attention of listeners immediately, and with just one listen to the impressive offering, you understand why. As far as debut songs come, they are very rarely as polished and developed as “Time Travel.” It’s a smooth journey, from the funky bassline, to the jazzy vocals, and oh, a saxophone.
Then there’s follow-up cut “Sleeps Well On Knives,” which continues to showcase their ability to lock into a memorable groove that is smooth as all hell. It sounds like its coming from an established artist who has been at it from years, not from a new group who we know nothing about.
That’s the magical thing about Eyelid Kid, we know nothing about them, except everything that we need to know: they make incredible tunes. The rest will follow.
