Last night Alt-J made their return to New York City for a special show at Le Poisson Rouge put on by NPR Music as a part of their First Listen Live series. The night served to showcase the new material off their upcoming album This Is All Yours, which isn’t due out until September 22 (via Canvasback Music). With the bands popularity seemingly getting bigger every moment, a show at LPR is as intimate as you could hope for.
It was a critical one for the band, as it was their first show without founding member Gwil Sainsbury, who recently quit the band. Which also made it their first show with new touring member Cameron Knight. I wasn’t able to make it last night unfortunately, but based on the reactions from our very own photographer Dana Pacifico, and various friends who were at the show, it was a great show on all accounts. The new material sounded sharp, and they played enough material from their debut to ease everyone into it.
The whole show is available to watch from the comfort of your home over right here. For those not fortunate enough to catch the show, there’s always their show at The Beacon Theater on November 16.
