Tony Allen is a 74-year-old drummer known best for his work with Africa 70, a group who is heavily responsible for the Afrobeat genre. You may know him best as the drummer for the Damon Albarn-led supergroup The Good, The Bad, & The Queen.
In October he will release a new album called Film Of Life (via Jazz Village). Allen reunited with Albarn on album track “Go Back.” It’s a song that’s cool and collected, a perfect fit for Albarn’s vocals. Lots of jazzy moments involved as well that make it an all around smooth listen.
