Foxes In Fiction is the project of Toronto-native Warren Hildebrand. He’s gearing up for the release of his sophomore Ontario Gothic, which will be released via his own label Orchid Tapes on September 23.
In 2011, Hildebrand started work on the album in his Toronto apartment, writing and recording and album looking back on the past five years living in Toronto. The theme of loss played a crucial role in the album, with the passing of his brother Drew in 2008.
Owen Pallet contributes string arrangements throughout the new album, such as on the grand and sweeping gem that is the album’s first single, “Shadow’s Song.” It’s a mesmerizing song that is dreamy and meloncholic in all the right ways. Pallet’s contributions have a huge impact on the song, which wouldn’t feel the same without them.
