Simian Mobile Disco, the British-based electronic music duo of James Ford (often Arctic Monkeys producer) and Jas Shaw. They have announced that they will release their new album Whorl on September 9 via Anti-.
The duo rehearsed over a period of three days in April in the desert, resulting in a one-off sold out live show at Pappy & Harriet’s, Pioneertown, This performance allowed 900 fans to witness part of the recording process. Those sessions in the desert were taped and became the basis for their new album and live project. They didn’t use computers, but rather: two modular synths, two sequencers, and a mixer.
The duo has also announced a U.S> tour which is aimed to re-create the recording sessions live. The tour will bring them to Brookyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 21. I’ve shared the full list of tour dates below, along with the album’s tracklist and an album trailer. First single “Tangents” will be released on July 1.
