Alt-J have announced their new album is called This Is All Yours and will be released on September 22 via Canvasback. It’s the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-winning debut record, An Awesome Wave.
They mark their return in a rather big way with the album’s first single, “Hunger Of The Pine”, which features a sample of Miley Cyrus’ song “4×4” which saw Cyrus herself helped clear the sample with the other writers and publishers involved. It’s an oddity for sure, but the song is a nice little bit of growth from the band who go with their gut and release a very atmospheric track with some jazz elements that work wonders (very TVOTR in some ways). Overall, I’ve become quite enchanted by the song, which has truly gotten better and better with each listen.
