The first time I saw Skaters was at during their packed Bowery Ballroom show earlier this year. It was a fitting setting for the band who had the young crowd going absolutely wild, full of pushing and shoving (you know, indie variations of moshing) and all.

The New York City band played an early set at the final day Of Governors Ball last week and managed to get the crowd worked up nearly to the same level. It’s not an easy thing to get an early crowd going at all during a Festival, but Skaters did that and then some with a fare share of moshing going down.

They ran through all the tracks of their debut album Manhattan, giving it a youthful punch that was a nice way to ease into the the day.

Here are some photos of their set, along with a stream of their cover of The Smtihs’ “This Charming Man.”
