It was an Odd Future takeover at Governors Ball on Sunday as Earl Sweatshirt’s set was an hour before Tyler, The Creator’s set, occurring at the opposing stages right across the field from one another.
As expected, the set did feature a guest appearance form Tyler who performed his part on “Whoa.” Even with the Odd Future support, this was Earl’s set. It was hard to imagine that only a few years ago we were wondering when the guy would be back in the public eye. Here he was, playing to a packed crowd at Governors Ball, doing his own thing. The crowd was a bit calmer than I would have guessed, but then again Earl’s material can tend to be a bit more leaner than Tyler’s stuff. Even so, he still was able to find moments of opportunity to get the crowd fired up.
After his set he headed over to Tyler’s stage to keep the party going, as did the crowd.
