Summer festivals are actually the perfect setting for an artist like Washed Out. Originally billed as a “chillwave” genre artist, the good vibes of a warm summer festival are more than fitting for Ernest Greene and his band.
I last saw them perform during the cold winters months at MHOW (when Ernest had long hair), and it was a great performance from the band. However, there was just something about seeing them perform outside at Governors Ball (even if under a tent) that made the show that much better. Greene’s vocals were off at first, but his band picked him up until he was able to get back on track. The set choices were perfection from “Feel It All Around”, “Amor Fati”, “New Theory” and the uplifting “All I Know.” It was a wonderful mid-afternoon set that Washed Out was built for.
