The time is ticking down until The Fault In Our Stars, an adaptation of YA author John Green’s novel of the same name, hits theaters in June and has audiences bawling in their seats, but until that day comes, we have the first trailer here.

I’m not going to lie – I have a vested interest in the success of the film. I’m a supporter and fan of John’s work, and I got a copy of the book (which I finished in a day or so) on a signing tour just over two years ago. It’s an amazing, heartbreaking, and life-affirming read, and just based off of the memories that came flooding back upon first watching the trailer (and then watching it once or twice more), this will be yet another film to add to the pantheon of successful book-to-screen (and YA book-to-screen) adaptations, following 2012’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower and the Hunger Games franchise to date. There are so many things in the trailer that are right out of the book, and I honestly couldn’t be happier!

The Fault in Our Stars still

Based on the novel of the same name, The Fault In Our Stars follows the adventures of Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort), two teenage cancer patients in Indianapolis who fall in love. Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, Nat Wolff, Mike Birbiglia, and Willem Dafoe round out the cast as Hazel’s parents, Isaac (a fellow support group member), the head of the support group, and the reclusive author of Hazel’s favorite novel, respectively. The film, brought to the screen by Josh Boone in the director’s chair and Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber providing the script, is set to hit theaters on June 6, 2014.
