Umbrella Bed are a band out of Minnesota who offer something different than I usually post around these parts. On their new EP Refill they offer something of a mix between ska and 2tone.
There’s something about lead singer Hellrock’s vocals, a warm inviting familiarity that works well. There’s plenty of horns and upbeat tones offered throughout the 5-song EP’s runtime, with influences traced from acts such as English Beat and the Dead Milkmen.
Opening track “Wish That It Would Stop” is a balanced blend of all the genres at work, a great deal of fun to listen to. Probably would be even greater to experience live. This is the type of music that is probably best to be enjoyed live, but the recordings will do just fine for now.
Enjoy the Refill EP, which is out now posted below.
