This morning the 2014 Oscar Nominations were announced by Chris Hemsworth. For the most part, the nominations were what I expected. I do believe that the Academy got it right leaving Blue Jasmine and Saving Mr. Banks off Best Picture. Both were good, but just shy of being in the caliber of the other films nominated for the top prize. I am however a bit disappointed that Inside Llewyn Davis did not do better. I guess it was a bit to dark and “real” for the Academy. I also would have loved to see some nominations for Short Term 12 or Fruitvale Station, but that was a long shot.
With that said, I’m overall pretty pleased and in agreement with most of this picks. Glad to see Leo get a nomination.
