Damn, I’m slipping. Last year I totally slept on John Wizards, the project of Cape Town, South Africa resident John Withers. Last year he released his self-titled debut album. I’m ashamed to admit that I totally missed out on it. I recently caught the video for “Muizenberg,” one of the album’s tracks and was left stunned.
Oh man, that guitar tone grabbed me right away, and combined to one lovely track. Sparse vocally as he lets the instrumentation do most of the talking for him. It’s a great track, and it gets an animated music video that was directed by Sebastian Borckenhagen.
